Wright Street Design Group is a residential architecture firm founded on the simple premise that something as fundamentally important and universal as the home deserves the attention and skill of a registered architect. While many homes today are constructed from designs culled from plan books or from the speculative builder repertoire of the latest forms and fashions, Wright Street Design Group strives to develop a home that is a unique and enduring response to a specific site and a specific set of needs and desires of a client.

Stanley Monroe, founder, owner and principal designer of Wright Street Design Group, believes that as an architect he can best provide residential design solutions that offer a perfect balance of aesthetics and technical expertise—from utilizing the natural features of a site for maximum visual impact—to incorporating the optimal structural system—to specifying and detailing the most appropriate materials for longevity and durability.

When working with a family on an addition, remodeling or new home, Stan feels he is their instrument; the translator of their goals. He does not prescribe orimpose, rather he solves their particular design program. As a result, Wright Street Design Group has successfully demonstrated through its numerous projects its ability to satisfy each client's individual needs.

Beyond merely satisfying functional requirements, it's Stan's conviction that a home should call to one's spirit, as well, with its character and graceful comfort.

Although it's his clients' recognition he seeks and which is most satisfying, Stan's work has been featured in Better Homes and Garden magazine, Fine Home Building magazine, Professional Builder magazine, and The Ann Arbor News.

In addition to providing design services, Wright Street Design Group also builds. As a builder with over 15 years of experience, Stan is equally adept at implementing the most technologically advanced and cost effective construction methods. This dual ability has served Wright Street's clients well. While many clients take advantage of Wright Street's design/build alternative, those who seek design-only services benefit from the firm's practical knowledge of how a house is built. This builder's "know-how" is a quality appreciated by contractors as well. "I began building because I wanted more control over a home's final details and quality—and more importantly, because the vision a family has for their home is more purely executed when the one who puts that vision on paper is also the one who brings it to life."

As a 1977 graduate of the Master of Architecture program at the University of Michigan, Stan chose to remain in Ann Arbor to embark on his professional career. He worked for a variety of area firms engaged in health care, office and retail design, but it was residential design that truly piqued his interest. Since 1986 he has devoted his talents to designing and eventually building some of the most intelligent, well detailed and beautiful homes in the area.
